Gingerbread Cookie Recipe

Kids Love To Decorate Them

gingerbread cookie

It's always good to know a tasty Gingerbread Cookie Recipe for the holidays. This one is delicious and easy to prepare.

After they have cooled you can decorate them any way you want. Our kids love to get involved with making these cookies. They have so much fun drawing the faces and buttons on the gingerbread men. We buy tubes of different colored icing and sprinkles to decorate them with.

Some other decorating ideas include using some mini M&Ms for the buttons which you can glue on with icing, some red hot candies would also make good buttons or eyes. So let's make it a gingerbread Christmas this year and bake some great tasting cookies.

Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 tsps ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  2. Mix in the eggs.
  3. Combine the ginger, cinnamon, flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl
  4. Stir flour mixture into the batter, this will make a soft dough. Add more flour if needed.
