Ham and Cheese Spread

Ham and Cheese Spread

You will love the flavor combination of this ham and cheese spread.
A cheese appetizer with the flavor of ham and a hint of onion makes this spread a wonderful addition to any party.

In order to get a uniform shape the recipe suggests chilling the spread in a bowl and turning it upside down to release the spread. This will give a nice smooth shape to your spread.

If you are preparing this recipe for a football party then you could try shaping it into a football and creating the laces with some pimento strips. I like to make as many appetizers ahead of time as I can. This cheese ball is good for a few days in the refrigerator. Take it out 1/2 hour before you serve, so it has time to soften up a bit. I made the mistake of serving one of these right out of the fridge and no one could cut into it until it sat for a while.

Ham and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 – 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese softened
  • 1 – 10 oz. pkg. extra sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 – 4 1/2 oz. can deviled ham
  • 2 tsp. onion, grated
  • Chopped nuts (your favorite)

Preparation:

  1. Combine softened cream cheese and Cheddar cheese, mixing at medium speed until well blend.
  2. Add ham and onions.
  3. Mix well. Put into a small bowl and chill for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from bowl
  5. Put chopped nuts on some wax paper and roll the cheese in the nuts.
  6. You can serve it right away or keep it in the fridge for up to a couple of days. Make sure you wrap it well, so it doesn't dry out.
  7. Serve with assorted crackers.
  8. Makes 3 1/2 cups.
