Try This Delicious Grilled Shrimp Marinade

This delicious Marinated Grilled Shrimp is infused with the flavors of garlic, tomato, basil and other spices. They are always a hit at our parties. They're also great on top of salads.

For the best flavor, they should be cooked outdoors on a grill but we have also cooked them inside on a griddle when it's raining.

We are frequently asked how to grill shrimp. They are best cooked quickly over a medium heat. They are done when the entire outside surface has turned pink. Most shrimp you buy starts out gray, and turns pink as it cooks. Putting the shrimp on skewers when grilling is a good idea. Otherwise, the shrimp can fall through the grates.

You can also leave the shrimp unpeeled if you like. The advantage of grilling them this way is that the shell acts to keep the moisture in. They are less likely to dry out. I have cooked them both ways on the grill and I haven't noticed a difference in flavor.

 

 

Marinated Grilled Shrimp


Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbls red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbls fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 pounds deveined and peeled shrimp
  • Skewers

 

Preparation:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the red wine vinegar, minced garlic, olive oil and tomato sauce
  2. Add chopped basil, cayenne pepper and salt
  3. Add shrimp to marinade
  4. Cover, and put in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
  5. Pre-heat your grill on medium heat.
  6. Put shrimp onto skewers, put the tip of skewer through the tail and then the head.
  7. Throw away marinade.
  8. Cook shrimp on grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until opaque.
