Mini Corn Dogs

Uniqued Mini Appetizers For Parties and Lunches

Mini Corn DogsMini Corn Dogs are a great lunch or snack for kids, especially for those younger ones with little mouths and stomachs who can’t eat a whole corn dog by themselves.

Try Them As Appetizers
Serve these at your next party or get-together. We usually serve these with different dipping sauces, like Ranch Dressing, Ketchup, BBQ sauce, and Honey Mustard. At one of our parties a guest asked it we had some cocktail sauce that he could dip them into. Hmmm... I said. I think we do. So I filled a small bowl with some cocktail sauce and tried it for myself. Not too bad but I prefer the Ranch Dressing.

You could also use cooked breakfast sausage links instead of cocktail wieners and serve them for breakfast or brunch.

Mini Corn Dog Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 medium size eggs
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 1/3 cups of cornmeal
  • 2 Tbls of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 Package of cocktail wieners
  • Oil for frying
  • Toothpicks

Preparation:

  1. Put 2 inches of oil in a large frying pan and heat it up to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine the Sugar, Oil, Eggs, Milk and Salt in a large bowl. Mix well, and make sure there are no lumps in your batter
  3. Add in the Cornmeal, Baking Powder and Flour and continue to blend together.
  4. Lightly coat the Wieners with some flour, shake off any excess. You just want a fine coat of flour so that the cornmeal batter will stick to the wieners.
  5. Stick a toothpick into each wiener
  6. Your oil should be hot enough by the time you are finished with the batter
  7. Grab the wiener by the toothpick and dip it into the batter, then carefully put it into the oil. (be careful, don't let the hot grease spatter on you)
  8. Try just one first to see if it cooks properly. The end result should be a mini corn dog with a golden brown color.
  9. Try not to put too many in at once or they will stick together
  10. Remove from the oil with a metal slotted spoon.
