Teriyaki Steak on a Stick

Teriyaki Sticks

When we order Asian food we like to get the Teriyaki Steak on a Stick. Fortunately you can make them at home for your guests. It's the perfect walking around finger food. Besides, food on a stick is fun to eat. My wife keeps asking me to call them Steak Kabobs, she says it sounds better than steak on a stick.
You can grill them or broil them in the oven. Just make sure you soak the wooden skewers in water for an hour so they don't burn.
It doesn’t take much time to make this appetizer and if you look at the bottom of this page there is an even faster way to make them.
Serve them up with a bowl of honey mustard sauce.

Teriyaki Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 - cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 - cup olive oil
  • 1/4 - cup water
  • 2 - tablespoons molasses
  • 2 - teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1 - teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 - teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 - teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 - pounds flank steak, cut into thin strips
  • 32 - wooden skewers (8 inch long) soaked in water

Preparation:

  1. In a large resealable bag, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, water, molasses, mustard powder, ginger, garlic powder and onion powder.
  2. Seal and shake the bag to mix together.
  3. Add steak strips to the bag and seal. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours to marinate.
  4. Preheat the oven's broiler. Thread meat onto skewers and place on a broiling rack. Or you can grill them using the same cooking times.
  5. Broil the steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  6. Arrange on a platter to serve.

Even Faster Method:

You can buy a ready-made teriyaki marinade at the store instead of making your own. Just pour it into the sealable bag and marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
